Ting Help - Founder Backstory and Tutorial
This is not the same founder of the Ting mobile phone service. There's a "Ting" that predates the carrier. Alice Y. Ting has been a member of the MIT Chemistry Department faculty since 2002. She has a diverse range of interests, including single molecule microscopy, neurobiology, protein engineering, molecular evolution, and bio-organic chemistry. Ting has been a teaching artist for the National Theatre Institute at the Eugene 'Neill Center and the Perry-Mansfield Performing Arts School and Camp (the oldest such program in the nation). He has led playwriting workshops for survivors of domestic violence, and spearheaded a four-year association with the Scotts Run Settlement House (WV) After School Program for underprivileged children. A founding member of the artists' collective INTELLIGENT BEASTS, Ting's work has been presented internationally, including France, Canada, Romania, the Czech Republic, Hungary, and Bali. He has served on multiple grant and fellowship panels including the Jerome Foundation, the NEA, and the Alpert Awards.
Ting is obligated to collect taxes and regulatory fees on behalf of federal, state and local governments. When you receive your bill you'll get an itemized account of all of these fees. We don't add any "recovery fees" or hide anything that isn't truly required in this charge.
Voice minutes, text messages and megabytes of data are each billed separately. Usage is pooled and shared across all the devices you have under your account. At the end of each billing cycle, Ting will settle up for whichever usage level you hit.
Bring Your Own Device To Ting FAQ
If you go beyond the XL level for minutes, messages or megabytes of data, you'll switch to pure per-unit billing. That will cost a few cents per minute, megabyte, or text.
